Overview

Responsible for all elements of the clinical laboratory operations from point of Specimen Collection, specimen processing, couriering of specimens and/or reports, testing and reporting for all entities owned or affiliated with Interpath Laboratory, Inc. within area.

Skills

Proficient use of Microsoft Office products, use of multiple data bases, coordination of people, effective meeting facilitator, effective written and oral communications.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor degree preferred, high school graduate or equivalent required.

 

Licensure/Certification: N/A

 

Experience: Good communication skills; Accurate and detail oriented; Good organizational skills; Experience with management of staff; Ability to manage work load and delegate.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all operational activities in given area, including patient service centers, courier, specimen processing, specimen collection, and technical. 
  • Responsible for corporate compliance/quality at given location. 
  • Annual improvements in all areas of responsibility through the ongoing use of IQ tools. 
  • Direct/manage operations in a manner that facilitates/supports sales in the area. 
  • Maintain Interpath’s corporate culture at all facilities. 
  • Maintain compliance with all corporate policies, protocols and procedures at site.

Specific Areas of Responsibility

  • Direct and supervise the technical staff, phlebotomists, specimen processors, and couriers within the site’s responsibility. 
  • Supervisory responsibilities to include the following: recruiting, hiring, retention and turnover management, hours/overtime management, policy compliance, productivity management, quality control, evaluations, discipline/corrective action and training/development. 
  • Monitor each site clinical laboratory and patient service center site, operations and quality through frequent site visits at all locations with a focus on our success of delivering clients high quality laboratory services. 
  • Effective courier system that is efficient and cost effective which meets client's and Interpath’s needs 
  • Actively evaluate, monitor, all cost/expense categories (especially personnel and associated expenses) on a monthly basis and reduce any and all costs whenever possible. 
  • Actively evaluate and monitor the productivity and efficiency of each site and all associated personnel as a mechanism to reduce cost and enhance productivity. 
  • Participate in Corporate Manager meetings. 
  • Each employee will have a job description and all elements of that job description will monitored on a monthly basis for each direct report.

OSHA Category

This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids and/or tissues. All employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.

General Physical Requirements

  • General Office work; prolonged sitting, occasional stooping, reaching, climbing and bending
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Manual dexterity for typing, 10-key work, and telephone use.
