Job Description

Join Our Team at Interpath Laboratory in Boise, ID!

 

In this dual-role position, you will play a critical part in both laboratory operations and urgent specimen transport. You’ll be responsible for performing essential processing duties within the lab and handling STAT courier deliveries to ensure timely and accurate specimen handling. 

 

Schedule: Monday–Friday with varying hours (shifts scheduled between 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM); weekend availability as needed

 

Location: 8660 W. Emerald, Ste. 102

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Monitor lab equipment alarms and report any issues.

  • Receive and handle specimens delivered to the lab.

  • Prepare and process samples for testing and outside labs.

  • Label and package specimens correctly to maintain quality.

  • Enter and verify patient and specimen information accurately.

  • Deliver urgent lab specimens and supplies quickly and safely.

  • Follow designated delivery routes and transport procedures.

  • Use appropriate containers (coolers, biohazard bags, etc.) to protect specimens.

  • Communicate with lab staff and update them on delivery status.

  • Follow safety protocols, HIPAA rules, and Medicare guidelines.

  • Handle all materials safely, especially those marked biohazard.

  • Fill in at other lab sites as needed to support operations.

  • Work as part of a team to keep things running smoothly.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driver’s license with no restrictions
  • Clean driving record

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with patients and team members

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all responsibilities

  • Solid problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic settings

  • Reliable navigation and punctuality to ensure prompt, accurate deliveries

Candidates with a demonstrated history of consistent employment, marked by continuity and minimal career gaps, will be strongly preferred

General Physical Requirements

  • Laboratory setting includes numerous automated machines that make humming and beeping sounds.
  • High level of staff activity and interaction in relatively close proximity.
  • Must be able to hear in order to monitor alarms and respond to any safety hazards in a timely manner.
  • Regularly exposed to infection by handling potentially infectious samples.
  • Wearing appropriate protective gear: Lab coat, gloves, goggles, and face shield.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, crawl, bend and twist as needed. 
  • Requires walking on non-level surfaces, inside and outside the office, throughout the day. 
  • Frequent bending and stooping.
  • Typically stands for extended period of times.
  • Ability to work long hours, and overtime, as needed.
  • Lifting up to 30 pounds.

OSHA Category: This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues. All employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
