Job Description

Interpath Labs in Omaha is seeking a Cytology Supervisor to oversee a new team dedicated to delivering accurate, timely, and life-impacting diagnostics. In this leadership role, you'll combine your cytology expertise with your passion for mentoring, quality assurance, and innovation - ensuring excellence in every slide reviewed and every result reported.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor and direct daily operations including staff schedules, workflow, supply inventory, patient care, equipment function and intra-and inter-departmental communication

  • Develop and maintain department standards to ensure quality care is provided. Ensure compliance with licensure, accreditation and safety standards for cytology.
  • Develops and/or assists in the creation of policies or procedures subject to review of physician leadership and management. Coordinate training associated with new policies or procedures to provide clarity and staff compliance.
  • Implement and maintain the proficiency testing program. Investigate and document proficiency testing failures and provide corrective actions.
  • Assist in the analysis and validation of new test systems.
  • Monitor employee performance, competence and professional development.
  • Function as a Cytotechnologist, as required.

Pay is between $48 - $64 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cytotechnology.

 

Licensure/Certification: ASCP certification or equivalent required.

 

Experience: Five (5) or more years of cytology experience required. Previous supervisory experience preferred, but not required.

General Physical Requirements

Regularly exposed to infection by handling potentially infectious samples.

 

Typically Stands for extended period of times

 

Lift up to 25 pounds.

 

Mobility to climb stairs on a regular basis.

 

Wearing appropriate protective gear: Lab coat, gloves, goggles, and face shield.

 

This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids and/or tissues. All employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
